Meet Maxime. A bridge-builder, fit girl, Customs & Trade specialist and solver at PwC.

How did you end up at PwC?

I looked at various Tax departments after completing my Master's in Tax Law. Because I did not know exactly what I wanted. In the end, after considering everything for a while, I came to the conclusion that I enjoyed Customs and International Trade the most. One of my fellow students then told me that there was a good customs team at PwC. I decided to join as a working student and have been here ever since.

Why did you choose PwC?

Because of the accessible and pleasant team. Even though PwC is a large company, there is a nice and personal working atmosphere. I think this is because you work with your own team.

“I have developed greatly at PwC in a short space of time. You learn a great deal and you develop into a true professional in your area of expertise.”

What exactly do you do?

I help large companies that have an international supply chain. I support them so that they comply with customs legislation and international trade treaties.

What caught your intention when you first started at PwC?

How much you develop in such a short space of time. You learn a great deal and you develop into a true professional in your area of expertise.

What does your working day look like?

Each day can be different! But in general, my day involves a combination of answering e-mails, making phone calls and attending meetings (both internal and external). But enough time is also left over to have a chat and share jokes with colleagues.

What do you enjoy about your work?

The many different topics. The profession is so expansive that, even after many years, you still end up doing new things every day. Our team is very young. This ensures a really enjoyable atmosphere on the work floor. The job is also exciting because of the contact we have with clients. Each client is different. It is always challenging to advise and assist clients in an appropriate manner, in order to find sustainable solutions together.

What does your team look like?

Our team consists of approximately fourteen people. The ratio between men and women is fairly even. Even though we are all different, we work very well together as a team. People always look at things from different perspectives, and that is extremely valuable.

What do you think about the work-life balance at PwC?

I think it is really good. It is clearly something that matters to everyone. The better people feel, the better they will do their jobs. But that doesn't mean we do not have to work slightly harder in some periods. Although these periods never last long.

What characterises the working atmosphere at PwC?

A very informal, yet professional working atmosphere. Everyone is ambitious and does their best to give the best of themselves - it's really nice to see.

“The many different topics are what make my job so enjoyable.”
