Inclusion

People make the difference

In our eyes, people make the difference. That's why we respect and value differences at PwC and why creating an inclusive culture is one of our strategic focuses. We strongly believe in the power of an inclusive culture, where diverse teams work on important issues. Only in an inclusive work environment can we bring diverse perspectives together to solve issues with passion, knowledge and expertise and create true value. For our clients, our people and society.

Inclusive thinking, acting and leading

We focus on creating an inclusive work environment where differences are valued. To help our clients with the complex challenges they face, we need to build a more diverse, multidisciplinary talent pool with different skills, experiences and perspectives. To reap the benefits of diverse teams, our people must be able to think, act and lead inclusively.

In an inclusive culture, colleagues can be themselves and give their best. Combined with quality and expertise, this leads to an organisation that inspires trust and achieves sustainable results.

Our approach to promoting inclusion has two parts:

Systems

We promote inclusive processes, policies and systems to enable equal opportunities at all levels and for all. This is how we help our people develop and realise their career potential.

Behaviour

We build inclusive leadership skills so that everyone has the opportunity to contribute to an inclusive culture.

Launch of learning programme and platform

In fiscal year 2021/2022, we increased our focus on promoting inclusive leadership skills and people skills. In October 2021, we launched our inclusive mindset learning. Including scenario-based exercises, participants gain knowledge and experience to boost their mindset and skills for inclusive behaviour and enhance their inclusive leadership skills.

We also created an Inclusion & Diversity platform to increase engagement across the organisation and between leaders, colleagues in the field and experts on various topics around inclusion and diversity.

Transgressive behaviour

At PwC, we believe it is important that we treat each other with respect, integrity and work together to ensure that everyone can work in a socially safe environment. In a safe working environment, employees treat each other with respect, are allowed to be themselves, are allowed to make mistakes, are allowed to express their opinions, enter into dialogue with each other, do not fear any negative consequences and there is no room for transgressive behaviour. Only together can we create a safe working environment for everyone who works at and with us.

Raising awareness and ongoing dialogue

To raise awareness about inclusion and diversity among everyone, we have created a series of vlogs in which our colleagues interact and share personal stories around inclusion. With these vlogs, employees are encouraged to engage in a conversation about this topic in the workplace as well.

Our internal diversity networks strive to give a voice to all the different perspectives of colleagues. The fact that nearly five hundred colleagues participated in our third Diversity Day in 2021 shows that our colleagues are becoming increasingly aware of this issue.

Ministry of Defence is transforming to inspire and retain talent
